About

Chapter Committees

Volunteering is a great way to network with other members, and build relationships! All committees work collaboratively and meet in person, or by tele-conference as needed. Each committee works closely with a designated NYC Metro Chapter board member. Committee members must be current NYC Metro chapter members.

Digital/Tech

This committee is the energy behind NYC Metro Chapter digital media and integrated marketing platforms. Chapter members with strong social media strategy, social media activation/production skills, content development experience, design skills, and marketing know-how are sought for this committee. The Digital/Tech team works closely with the Marketing Communications team to connect with members and the general public.

Members with IT/technology backgrounds, expertise in content management and website maintenance are also needed to be a part of the digital communications team.

Marketing Communications

This committee is the engine behind NYC Metro Chapter publicity and communications efforts and seeks members with strong communications skills particularly in the areas of marketing strategy, content creation, public relations and media relations.

Members with press release writing ability, content creation (newsletters/event programs/social media/event registration copy), and visual marketing skills are encouraged to be a part of the marketing team.

Membership

We want every woman in sports business in the NY metropolitan area to know about WISE! The Membership Committee plans recruitment and membership retention activities as well as membership campaigns that will attract women from local sports business organizations (pro teams, college/university athletic departments, agencies, and other related entities) to join WISE as Corporate Members.

The Membership Committee also oversees the chapter’s “Member Meet-Up” networking events. Our Membership Committee knows how to “work a room” at chapter events and activities to make non-members feel welcome and educate them on WISE. Members who enjoy meeting and interacting with a cross section of new people with experience in sales, recruiting, development, and events are invited to join the team..

Partnerships

As a non-profit networking organization, we rely heavily on partners and alliances to deliver programs and valuable resources to our members. The Partnerships Committee focuses on creating revenue-generating opportunities for the chapter, secures event sponsorships, and special promotional offers for WISE NYC Metro Chapter members.

This committee works closely with the Membership Committee to identify and solicit new corporate partners and includes a Fundraising Subcommittee that leads outreach efforts to potential donors, and identifies vehicles such as in-app, retail, and dining fundraisers to support local chapter programming and initiatives.

The Partnerships Committee seeks members with a background in sponsorship sales, partnership marketing, new business development, brand management, and fundraising. Members with grant writing experience, donor relations expertise, and related areas with experience working with non-profit organizations are a plus for this committee.

Professional Development

To advance our mission as a resource for professional women in sports business, the Professional Development Committee (formerly Membership, Development) assists with the development of initiatives beyond core programming events that exclusively offer members additional opportunities for professional growth and development. The Professional Development Committee implements member-only programming such as the chapter’s Book Club, Dine & Learn series and Financial Fitness workshop.

Members with strong organizational and program planning skills are encouraged to join this committee.

Program Panel Events

This committee coordinates the chapter’s morning program events (about 3 panel discussions per year, inclusive of our annual signature Power Play panel event).

The Program Events committee is looking for members who have a knack for pulling together details to create the big picture, have experience in planning and executing events, have the ability to wrangle top-notch talent (speakers/facilitators) and have their fingers on the pulse of what’s new and happening in the sports business events landscape. Experience working with non-profit organizations/associations is a bonus for this committee.

Special Events

The Special Events Committee is the driving force behind the NYC Metro Chapter Women of Inspiration awards event held annually in December. Occasionally, the Special Events team will take the lead on events that fall outside of the scope of core programs. In the past, this committee led chapter events such as: Power of the Pump (afterwork event to kick-off the NY/NJ Super Bowl week), Raise the Barre (core-training class during heart health month to raise awareness of heart disease in women) and Fitness and Wellness Expo (fitness classes and well-woman health talks).

The Special Events Committee is all about throwing a good party! This committee is an ideal fit for members with a background in events, production, and event marketing who want to focus on one large-scale project annually. Experience working with non-profit organizations/associations is helpful.

WISE Within Mentoring Program

The national signature program of WISE, WISE Within mentoring program offers a truly unique opportunity to accelerate professional development by connecting mid-level professional women to senior executives for the support they need navigating their careers.

The NYC Metro Chapter’s WISE Within Committee is involved in supporting the mentoring pairs through national online resources and by providing opportunities for mentoring participants to connect locally at chapter events. This committee is also responsible for the coordination of the Speed Mentoring Roundtable event held annually in January in recognition of National Mentoring Month.

Members with expertise in recruiting, human resources, professional development, and events thrive on this committee.

Event Services Team

The Event Services Team supports our program committee chairs behind the scenes and are on-site to handle event-day set-up and breakdown for all NYC Metro Chapter events.

Event Services volunteers are the faces you see consistently throughout the year greeting you at the registration table as you arrive on-site at NYC Metro chapter events.

Members who have experience in events, hospitality, client services, operations, customer service and members who want to be involved on event days are encouraged to get involved with this team.

The NYC Metro Chapter Administrator oversees the Event Services Team.
